Escapee Arrested, Faces Extradition

From Staff And Wire Reports

A prisoner who escaped from a minimum-security prison in 1990 was arrested Saturday after he was stopped for a traffic violation.

Brett A. Dally, 30, of Osburn, was serving time for burglary in a Butte, Mont., pre-release center when he escaped, according to law enforcement records.

Dally, who claimed to have served time in a Washington prison since 1990, said he was unaware of the Montana warrant. He said he has lived and worked in the Silver Valley for the past three years.

“He told us he thought it was all cleared up,” said Lt. Bill George of the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office.

“It sounds to me like a mix-up between Montana and Washington prison authorities,” Wallace Police Chief Scott Ten Eyck said.

Shoshone County charged Dally with driving without privileges, but he will be returned to Montana authorities as a fugitive from justice.
