North Central Names Princess

Sarah Barnes, a senior at North Central High School, was chosen as the school’s Lilac Festival princess Monday night.

Panelists from a board of Lilac directors chose the 18-year-old to represent North Central in the 1995 Lilac Festival. Sarah is the daughter of Judy and Ken Meyers of Spokane.

Sarah, who is in the academic honors program, is class president and has run varsity track for two years. She also volunteers to serve meals to the homeless.

She plans to attend Western Washington University in Bellingham, where she hopes to study elementary education.One of the Lilac princesses representing 12 Spokane-area schools will be chosen as queen April 22 at 7 p.m. at Ferris High School. The queen will ride in the official float of the Tidyman’s Lilac Festival/Armed Forces Torchlight Parade and the princesses will follow her in convertibles on May 20.
