Bicyclist Hit By Car In Critical Condition

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 7-year-old girl remained in critical condition Saturday after a truck hit her while she was riding her bike.

McKensey M. Kelly of Naples, Idaho, was riding her bike at about 5:30 p.m. Friday when Oliver Andrews hit her with his pickup truck, according to an Idaho State Police report.

Andrews, 22, of Moyie Springs, Idaho, was driving north on Paradise Valley Road in Boundary County when he came upon three bicyclists headed south.

The young girl was riding her bike left of the center of the road, according to the report. Andrews slowed down to try and go between the bikes but the victim cut in front of his pickup truck, according to the report.

Although Kelly was hit at a slow speed and was wearing a helmet, she sustained extensive head injuries.

She was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane where she was being treated in the pediatric intensive care unit, hospital officials said.
