Rain Suspends Pga
The opening round of the Sarazen World Open was suspended because of heavy rain at the Chateau Elan resort northeast of Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.
Twenty-six of the field’s 93 players completed the front nine before play was suspended. Plans call for play to resume today, and the tournament will be shortened to 54 holes.
At Kapalua, Hawaii, Gary McCord, who hadn’t played on the PGA Tour since March, birdied the final two holes for a 7-under-par 66 to take the first-round lead in the Kapalua International. Kirk Triplett, formerly of Pullman, fired a 34-34 for 68.
