Three-time tournament champion Boris Becker defeated Richard Krajicek of the Netherlands, and top-seeded Pete Sampras also advanced to the semifinals at the Paris Open.

Becker beat Krajicek 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, and Sampras took Jakob Hlasek of Switzerland 6-2, 6-3 in quarterfinals at the $2.25 million tournament.

In other quarterfinals, Jim Courier defeated Michael Chang 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), and Wayne Ferreira of South Africa, eliminated Daniel Vacek of the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-4.
