Machinists, Boeing Schedule Talks

Associated Press

Boeing Co. and Machinists union representatives will meet Wednesday for the first time since a 4-week-old strike began to discuss union requests for information, the union said Friday.

The talks are set to begin at 10 a.m. in the office of federal mediator Ben Youtsey, said Robert Gregory, chief negotiator for the union.

“That’s good news,” said Russ Young, a company spokesman. “We had said, just name a time and place.”

Gregory emphasized that the meeting is to discuss union requests for information on subcontracting and medical benefits.

“We hope this meeting paves the way for talks toward a new contract,” he said.
