Playfair Cancels Monday’s Racing Program

Faced with lagging entries and a dwindling supply of horses, Playfair Race Course has called off Monday’s scheduled program. There will be racing today and Sunday, beginning with simulcasts from Churchill Downs at 1:27 p.m.

Playfair will complete its 59th season Thanksgiving weekend with races scheduled Friday through Monday.

General manager Dan Hillyard and director of racing Ted Martin, after consulting with representatives of the track’s horsemen, announced the cancellation. They agreed scrubbing the card would benefit closing weekend.

“While we don’t like to call off programs, we decided it’s far more important to put together four consecutive competitive programs for closing weekend,” Hillyard said.
