Papandreou On Mend From Pneumonia

Premier Andreas Papandreou was steadily recovering from pneumonia Thursday, doctors said, but they would not predict when he would be released from the hospital.

The frail, 76-year-old premier was admitted to the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center’s intensive care unit Monday after he had trouble breathing.

Hospital spokesman Grigoris Skalkeas said the premier was still on a respirator, but was being weaned from it and might be able to breathe on his own as soon as Friday.
