Man Dies From Injuries In Dirt Bike Accident

A 25-year-old man died while racing his motorcycle in west Spokane on Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies said.

Edward Burns was racing with three friends on dirt bikes in a wooded area north of Greenwood Road, near Indian Canyon.

He went over a mound of dirt and crashed his Yamaha 400 about 6:30 p.m., deputies said.

The friends put him in a pickup and drove to Deaconess Medical Center, where Burns died from head, chest and internal injuries shortly before 9 p.m.

Burns was wearing a helmet, deputies said.
