Issues: Special-education children in regular classrooms: Considers it a difficult and emotional issue requiring work with the community and educators.

Safe schools: Believes district has a good approach. Officers in high schools are role models, not enforcers.

Computers-in-schools tax: Voted for it in 1994. “If additional tax money is needed, it should be sought.”

His guiding lights: Motivate gifted students with high expectations. Don’t dilute schools’ mission with social services tasks.
