Hang-Glider Killed In Missoula Crash

From Staff And Wire Reports

Kevin Wolfe, 40, of Missoula was killed Thursday night when his hang glider smashed into the University of Montana soccer field.

Missoula County Sheriff’s Capt. Jerry Crego said Friday that Wolfe was an experienced hang-glider and instructor, but tried to perform a maneuver called a “wing-over” at too low an altitude.

Authorities said Wolfe hit the ground face first. He was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Patrick Hospital.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Willis Hintz, acting coroner, said Wolfe had flown off Mount Sentinel with friends shortly before 8 p.m.
