Man Gets Seven Years For Child Sex Abuse

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man who befriended a runaway, gave her drugs and then molested her will spend at least seven years in prison, a judge ordered Friday.

Alan T. Brown, formerly of Clarkston, Wash., was convicted in June of four counts of lewd conduct with a minor and three counts of sexually abusing a child.

First District Judge James Michaud ordered him to serve two seven-year terms, one for the lewd conduct charges and one for the sex abuse charges. However, both terms can be served concurrently.

Brown was arrested in December and was originally charged with nine counts of rape. A jury found him guilty of the lesser charges.

Kootenai County prosecutors say Brown, 22, befriended a 15-year-old Kootenai County runaway, gave her methamphetamine and then began abusing her sexually and physically.
