Compiled From Wire Services

Hillary Rodham Clinton received a distinguished service award from the Save The Children organization Monday.

Phyllis George, national spokeswoman for the international relief group, praised the first lady for having “fought for over 25 years in this country and abroad to give the less fortunate - especially women and children - a chance, a voice, a future.”

Accepting the honor in the East Room, Mrs. Clinton said Save the Children “builds bridges in communities and countries, with businesses and individuals who share their passion and belief in the rights and opportunities of every child.”
