Sec Suspends Officiating Crews

Compiled From Wire Services

The Southeastern Conference officiating crew that worked the Arkansas-Alabama game Saturday has been suspended for failing to penalize Arkansas for having 12 men on the field during the drive that won the game.

Arkansas coach Danny Ford acknowledged after the Razorback’s 20-19 victory over Alabama that his team, driving for the winning points, had 12 men on the field on a second-and-goal play from the Alabama 4-yard line with 23 seconds left in the game.

University of Nebraska receiver Riley Washington, who is charged with attempted murder, will play in Saturday’s game against Pacific.

Husker coach Tom Osborne said he believes Washington is innocent of charges that he shot and wounded a man outside a Lincoln convenience store Aug. 2.
