Flood Assistance Deadline Is April 11

The deadline for North Idaho flood victims to apply for most federal and state disaster assistance is April 11.

That includes temporary housing assistance and money distributed under the Individual and Family Grant Program. Applications for low-interest disaster loans also must be returned to the U.S. Small Business Administration by April 11.

The deadline is set for 60 days after a presidential disaster declaration. Ten North Idaho counties were declared federal disaster areas by President Bill Clinton Feb. 11 as a result of the Feb. 5 flooding.

People needing help getting assistance should call (800) 525-0321. Those with a hearing or speech problem can call (800) 660-8005.
