U.S. Dollar Barely Budges

The dollar ended barely changed Tuesday in light trading ahead of a key U.S. economic report and in advance of religious holidays in Europe and the United States.

By the end of trading in New York, the dollar had dipped against the German mark and nudged higher against the Japanese yen. During the day, it flirted with a two-year high against the yen set in intraday trading Monday.

In late New York trading, the dollar traded at 107.57 yen, up from 107.56 yen late Monday. The dollar was worth 1.4827 marks, down from 1.4835 marks.
