New Regulations

Fenton Roskelley

Montana’s daily limit for most lakes and reservoirs has been cut from 10 to 5 trout, with a 10-fish possession limit.

There are exceptions in different regions, the state’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Department noted, so anglers should check lake regulations.

The department also said two rods will be permitted in lakes in the central and eastern districts. Also, warm water fillets processed in the field now must have no less than 1 square inch of skin, other than on the belly. For salmonid species, all the skin must be retained.

Night fishing at Mary Ronan, Holter and Hauser lakes will be closed between midnight and 3 a.m.
