Man Charged With Killing 15-Year-Old

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Bonners Ferry man was charged with murder Monday after authorities found the body of a 15-year-old boy who had been missing for several days.

The boy, Cedar Pfenning, would have been a sophomore at Bonners Ferry High School. He had been missing since last Thursday and was apparently shot to death.

Wayne Thurman, 18, was arrested Friday and faces a first-degree murder charge. He is being held in the Boundary County Jail without bail.

Authorities have not released details about the murder and the court record was sealed. An autopsy was performed Monday to determine how Pfenning was killed.

The boy disappeared last week and Boundary County authorities searched for him for two days. His body was found Friday hidden in the southern part of the county. Thurman was arrested shortly after Pfenning’s body was recovered.

There will be a memorial service for Pfenning today at 2 p.m. at the boat launch near the Bonners Ferry Fairgrounds.
