A 71-year-old cowboy who for years was the foreman at a Central Florida ranch was convicted Friday in the shotgun slayings of his new bosses, a married couple who wanted to fire him.

Russell Sage “Junior” Chaudoin, a tough man used to getting his way on the 5,600-acre ranch, sat down slowly and glared at the jury as the first-degree murder verdicts were read. He was later sentenced to two life prison terms with no chance of parole.

Jack Doyle, 62, and his 59-year-old wife Patricia were gunned down last summer and buried under tons of hay near Chaudoin’s homesite on the ranch.

They had come to Florida from La Jolla, Calif., to supervise operations at the Seminole Woods ranch owned by Patricia Doyle’s ailing parents.
