U.N. and Iraqi negotiators have reached a tentative agreement on key issues keeping Iraq from selling oil to buy food.

But sources said the sides remained divided over Iraq’s demand that its foreign assets frozen after the invasion of Kuwait, including $800 million in the United States, be transferred to a U.N. account.

The two sides met Sunday for a 10th day of talks on a U.N. offer to allow Iraq to sell oil to buy food and medicine for its people suffering from the 5-1/2-year-old international sanctions.

Iraq’s Abdul Amir al-Anbari said he hoped that the current round of talks would end Monday.
