EV Wrestlers Down Cheney

A plumb of a Frontier League wrestling match Tuesday went East Valley’s way thanks to Jimmy Plumb.

Plumb, a 101-pounder, pinned Jay Myers in 47 seconds as the visiting Knights (2-0) edged Cheney 36-34 to tie idle Colville for first place.

The final six matches were decided by pin, with the lead changing each time. Ben Wise (215) put EV in position to win by pinning Tom Jud, who was 16-0 going in.

Cheney started strongly as Jacinto Shamp (129) earned a third-round pin after trailing 9-8.

At Pullman, Paul Bain (108), Cory Richardson (122), Josh Ludwig (129) and Dave Cooper (135) had pins to start West Valley (1-0) to a 36-0 lead in a 52-16 win over the Greyhounds (0-3).

Andy Martson (178) and Terry Line (215) had Pullman’s pins.
