Bertha Mounce Spokane

Graveside service for Bertha M. Mounce, 58, is set for 1 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mounce, who died Sunday, was born in Steilacoom, Wash., and graduated from Burien (Wash.) High School.

She was a homemaker and a former 20-year summer resident of Spirit Lake, Idaho.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Charles Mounce; one son, Michael Mounce of Chewelah, Wash.; one daughter, Janet Henderson of Ventura, Calif.; one brother, Eldon Derkland of Burlington, Wash.; and one granddaughter.

Maurice Adams Hayden Lake, Idaho

Graveside service for Maurice C. Adams, 76, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Forest Cemetery, Old Post Section, in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adams, who was born in McCammon, Idaho, died Monday.

He grew up in Oregon and graduated from high school in Inkom, Idaho. He joined the Navy in 1942 and served in World War II before his military discharge in 1946.

He later worked in a glass plant in California and headed the union of his plant for several years, retiring in 1978.

He moved to Hayden Lake in the early 1980s.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth, in 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Mae; five stepsons, Dick Falkner of Missouri, Gene Falkner of California, Earl and Clyde Clark, both of Oregon, and Mike Falkner of Washington; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Varland of South Dakota and Joana Koss of Idaho; several brothers and sisters; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

William Steed St. Maries

Memorial service for William Thomas Steed, 43, will be held Friday at noon at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Mr. Steed, who was born in Montana, died Tuesday following a brief illness.

He grew up and graduated from St. Maries High School in 1971. He served with the Army in Germany during the 1970s and later worked as a floor layer in construction after his military discharge.

Mr. Steed graduated from the CAD Institute in Phoenix, Ariz., in 1993 and worked in computer-aided design technology in Phoenix.

Illness forced him to retire earlier this year and he returned to St. Maries in May.

Mr. Steed was married in 1981 and divorced in 1984.

Survivors include his son, Jacob Steed of Davenport, Wash.; his mother, Darline Branson of St. Maries; his father, Thomas Steed of Arkansas; two sisters, Wynne Stewart and Rhea Sweatfield, both of St. Maries; one brother, Fred Sweatfield of Twin Falls, Idaho; three stepbrothers, Larry, Brad and Edward Branson; one stepsister, Laura Branson; and his good friend, Janet Paladino of St. Maries.

Mabel Farnsworth Chewelah, Wash.

Service for Mabel E. (Kenney) Farnsworth, 101, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah. Cremation will follow the service.

Mrs. Farnsworth, who was born in Springdale, Wash., died Friday.

She married Robert Kenney in 1913. Her husband worked in sawmills and as a logger, so they lived at logging camps in Springdale, Lyons Hill and Hunters, Wash. They settled at Waitts Lake in the early 1930s.

She later married Ralph Farnsworth. He died in the mid-1970s.

Mrs. Farnsworth was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Dan Farnsworth of Pasco, Irvin Kenney of Cusick, Wash., and Marshel Kenney of Coeur d’Alene; two daughters, Mildred Gates of Cheney and Eileen Besel of Missoula; two sisters, Deane Buche of Spokane and Maxine Heine of Chewelah; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Anna Goforth Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Anna Charlotte Goforth, 86, will be held today at 2 p.m. at Forest Cemetery, Old Post Section, in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Goforth, who was born in Kansas City, Kan., died Friday.

She was raised and educated in Kansas City, Mo., graduating from Bancroft High School.

She moved to California in 1934 and to Coeur d’Alene in 1994. She was a member of the Unity Church in Missouri and California. She was also a member of the Hammond Organ Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1946.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Linse of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Carol Greene of California; seven grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

William ‘Bert’ Johnson Spokane

Visitation for William B. “Bert” Johnson, 75, is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson, who was born in Elkins, W. Va., died Sunday.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and graduated from West Virginia University.

He worked for the Department of the Army as an agronomist for 30 years.

He moved to Spokane 23 years ago and was a member of Liberty Lake Community Church.

His wife, Virginia, died in 1988.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Johnson of Coeur d’Alene and Peggy Middleton of Otis Orchards; one brother, Arthur Johnson of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Betty Collett of Columbus, Ohio, and Ruth Bright of Montrose, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
