Street Races To Victory

Compiled From Wire Services

Facing her least favorite slope in tough conditions, with a lot of bad attitude and quite a bit of fear, Picabo Street rose to the challenge and clinched what she called her sweetest World Cup ski victory of the season in Narvik, Norway.

In her first race after winning the World Championship downhill title, Street produced a daring second run in a rare, two-leg “sprint downhill” to claim her third World Cup victory of the season.

The World Cup men’s downhill race was called off due to a heavy snowfall in Hakuba, Japan. Snow and rain was predicted to continue today, but organizers are still hoping to hold the event Saturday.
