Former Spokane Indians and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Willie Davis was arrested while waving a samurai sword and ninja-style throwing stars in a confrontation with his parents over $5,000, authorities said Friday.

Davis allegedly threatened to kill his parents, investigators said.

The Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the suburban Gardena, Calif., home where Davis’ parents live.

“His parents said Davis was threatening them and demanding money,” Hellmold added.

The parents of the former All-Star outfielder locked themselves in a room of their house and called 911, deputy Jim Hellmold said.

Davis was arrested and booked for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted extortion and exhibiting a deadly weapon. He remained in jail Friday in lieu of $150,000 bail.

The 55-year-old Davis was the star of the 1960 Spokane Indians, winning the Pacific Coast League batting title with a .346 average. In 1962 with the Dodgers, he was named the Sporting News’ sophomore of the year.
