Denver To Go Division I

Compiled From Wire Services

The University of Denver plans for all of its sports teams to compete at the NCAA Division I level by fall 1998.

DU officials announced the school has notified the NCAA of its intent to return all varsity programs to Division I competition. The process requires a two-year compliance review period.

The Pioneers, who have nine men’s and nine women’s sports teams, already compete in Division I in men’s ice hockey and women’s gymnastics.

DU moved most of its varsity programs to Division II in 1980.
