Man Arrested After Chase On Bridge

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane man was arrested late Friday after he chased another man with a car on the Monroe Street bridge.

The 34-year-old victim told police he was on his way to work when a brown Chevrolet Monte Carlo veered toward him.

He ran to the side of the road to avoid the car, which then turned around and drove at him again, police said.

The driver, R. Daniel Abba, 31, was charged with second-degree attempted assault with a vehicle.

Police offered no motive for the incident.

The victim told police the car chased him to the grassy median at Main and Monroe near the south end of the bridge. The driver and a passenger then got out of the car. The victim sprayed the passenger with pepper spray and the driver ran off, police said.

A security guard at the post office across the street witnessed the dispute, called police and detained the victim and passenger until officers arrived.

Police questioned and released both. They arrested Abba, who gave his address as 5618 E. Union, about an hour later when he came back to get the car. , DataTimes
