Gu Student Reports Being Raped At Home

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 21-year-old Gonzaga University student told Spokane police she was raped Saturday morning in her home.

The victim told police she was asleep when a man woke her up. He threatened her with a knife and said he’d kill her if she wasn’t quiet, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

The two struggled and the woman grabbed the knife and screamed. A roommate came downstairs where the victim was and fought with the man, who then ran from the house.

The victim told police the door to the residence was left unlocked for an out-of-town guest who was scheduled to arrive.

The victim was treated at Deaconess Medical Center and released.

Police are looking for the suspect, who is described as black, in his mid- to late 20s, with a receding hairline. He is between 5-feet-10 and 6 feet tall, weighing about 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red flannel-type shirt, black jeans and hiking boots.
