Analysis

Thanks to Michael McCrary’s miraculous blocked kick last Sunday, Seattle sits one win from .500 instead of 3-6 and in a pool of self-pity.

Win today and Seattle re-enters the playoff race. Egads!

This one is certainly winnable. Minnesota comes in with a three-game losing streak and a stagnant offense. The Vikings’ defense has played well, but prefers finesse over force. That should favor Seattle, which tends to struggle with physical defenses such as Kansas City’s and Houston’s.

The Hawks’ secondary better be ready to backpedal. Minnesota has no reliable rusher with Robert Smith injured, so quarterback Warren Moon likely will spend the afternoon trying to play catch with Cris Carter, Jake Reed and Qadry Ismail.

Seattle likes the fact that the Vikings’ line has been unsteady, particularly with pocket-collapser Cortez Kennedy and the emergence of Sam Adams.

No need for another miracle - just redemption. Kicker Todd Peterson, who missed two boots last week, gives Hawks’ a three-point win.
