Food Poisoning Slows Chiefs’ Bertsch

Veteran defenseman Jay Bertsch will likely miss his second game on the Spokane Chiefs’ three-game Central Division Western Hockey League trip tonight at Medicine Hat after being hospitalized for food poisoning.

He also missed Friday night’s 5-2 loss at Lethbridge.

CdA soccer coach resigns

Saying he was frustrated by pesky parents, Coeur d’Alene girls soccer coach David Tabakman has resigned.

Tabakman coached the Vikings to a runner-up finish at the state tournament two weeks ago. CdA finished the season 19-5. His three-year record was 35-18-5.

He resigned earlier in the fall as the boys head coach.
