Man Found Shot To Death

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 27-year-old man was found shot to death early Thursday morning at the entrance to a campground near Conconully, about 17 miles west of Omak, Wash.

Okanogan County Sheriff Jim Weed said Hector Manuel Aquila had been shot “probably three or more times” with a large-caliber firearm.

The sheriff said a .22-caliber rifle was found next to the dead man, but it apparently was not used to shoot Aquila.

Weed said Aquila lived in Loomis, Wash., about 15 miles north of the murder scene.

Police issued an all-points bulletin for the victim’s pickup truck, which apparently was stolen by the killer. The truck was found later Thursday at Palmer Lake, just west of Oroville, Wash., near the Canadian border.

Weed said there were no suspects Thursday, “but we expect to have some identified soon.” Several people had been questioned, he said. An autopsy was planned today.
