Woman Rents Car With Counterfeit Bills

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane woman was arrested Monday after renting a car with counterfeit money, police said.

Leanne Bonnell, 32, was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of forgery and theft, police said.

At about 9 a.m. Monday, two women rented a vehicle from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 3 W. Third Ave.

They told the clerk they were going to Oregon.

Bonnell was arrested after returning home to get some medication.

The second woman and the rental car had not been located late Monday.

A Secret Service investigation into the use of counterfeit bills in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene continues.

There have been more than 40 reports of counterfeit bills since mid-November, police said.

Anyone with information or anyone who suspects they’ve received a counterfeit bill should call the Secret Service at 353-2532.

After business hours, call the police department. , DataTimes
