Stewart One Off Lead

Compiled From Wire Services

Payne Stewart showed up on the wrong tee, plopped his first drive into the water and still finished the first round of the Coolum Classic just one stroke off the lead.

Stewart double bogeyed his first hole after scurrying from No. 1 to the 10th tee, where he was supposed to start, then rallied to shoot a 3-under-par 69. Australian Lucas Parson was the leader with a 68.

Craig Parry and Robert Allenby were two strokes off the lead with 70s.

Robert R. Feagin Jr., former president of Jacksonville’s daily newspapers and a founder of the PGA Tour’s The Players Championship, has died of congestive heart failure in Jacksonville, Fla. He was 85.
