Nieman Helps Idaho Snap Losing Streak

Two-sport star Alli Nieman scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Idaho to a 68-58 win over Brigham Young Tuesday night in a non-conference game in the Marriott Center at Provo, Utah.

The victorious Vandals snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 4-8 on the season. The Cougars fell to 5-5.

Idaho stole the ball a season-high 18 times, led by Kelli Johnson, who had six steals, and Susan Woolf, who had a career-high five.

Nieman, a sophomore forward from Sandpoint who also stars for the volleyball team, hit 9 of 14 shots from the field and 4 of 9 from the line. She also blocked three shots.

Katie Cronin scored 19 points for the Rams (9-1) and the visiting Eagles (2-7) committed a glaring 41 turnovers as Colorado State rolled to an easy non-conference victory at Fort Collins, Colo.

Cronin and Becky Hammon, who scored 15 points, combined for 13 as the Rams sprinted to a 15-0 lead. Cronin also collected nine of her team’s 24 steals and contributed five assists.

Tracy Ford had nine points for EWU.
