Twins Who Were Frostbitten Return Home

Compiled From Wire Services

Three-year-old twin sisters who sneaked out of the house in subzero weather and suffered severe frostbite have returned home from the hospital.

Jennifer and Kourtney Woracek spent more than two weeks at Children’s Hospital after police found them in an alley near their home Jan. 17. They left the hospital Sunday. Their parents declined to discuss the girls’ condition.

The girls had set out before sunrise, shoeless and in light clothing, with a backpack and snacks in temperatures around 10 below. Their father awoke to find them gone and called police.

Jennifer’s body temperature was below 70 degrees when she was found. Her blood had to be drawn, warmed and returned to her body.
