The Inland Northwest Chapter of the Camp Fire Boys and Girls recently honored outstanding adult volunteers at a luncheon at the Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute.

The volunteers, their hometowns and awards are:

Spokane: Melinda Norman, the Charlotte Joy Farnsworth Award for outstanding service; Doris Butler, Shawnequas Award for service to clubs and leaders; Donna and Walter Froelich, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Northeast Youth Center and the Sheridan Mega Club, certificates of appreciation. The Kiwanis Club of Downtown Spokane, Spokane Kiwanis Charities, Dan St. John and United Way of Spokane County, plaques of appreciation.

Wendy Budge, Cindy Fetters, Paula Jones, Judy Marcille and Tracy Taitch, the Hiiteni Award for extensive and innovative service to youth and community; Cindy Adams, Megan Burns, Georgina Button, Heidi Davis, Cindy John, Cheri Moore and Jodi Schramm, Wakan Award for exceptional and imaginative leadership.

Marcia Asmussen, the Anita Lindner Award for excellence of service by example; Brian Bays, Susan Hanley and Phil Smith, One Person Can Make a Difference Award; Jim Caddis, the Luther Halsey Gulick Award for outstanding council leadership over an extended period.

Joan Degerstrom and Ewing Johnson were presented with lifetime memberships to the council.

Spangle: Cheryl Raugust, The Shawnequas Award for service to clubs and leaders.

Nine Mile Falls: Terrie Meyers, the Hiiteni Award for extensive and innovative service to youth and community.

Three Spokane members of Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest recognition in Girl Scouting:

Christina Graham and Diana Orthouse, both of Senior Girl Scout Troop 208, taught Girl Scout leaders about maps and compasses. Graham, daughter of Les and Amy Graham, is a senior at Freeman High School. Orthouse, daughter of Delton and Mary Orthouse, is a senior at University High School.

Larisa Stark, daughter of Thom and Mary Stark, redecorated a nursery at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church. Stark, a Girl Scout for 13 years, will graduate this spring from Spokane Falls Community College and plans to attend Western Washington University next fall.
