Leeb’s Hat Trick Helps Rally Chiefs

Greg Leeb’s third-period hat trick rallied the Spokane Chiefs to a come-from-behind 6-3 Western Hockey League win Tuesday night over the Prince George Cougars.

The Chiefs, trailing 3-2 after two periods, took the lead in the first 5 minutes of the final period on Leeb’s 20th and 21st goals of the season. Leeb scored Spokane’s sixth goal into an empty net on an assist from Trent Whitfield.

Marian Cisar had a goal and two assists for Spokane.

The Chiefs’ Ty Jones scored in the second period, his first goal in 14 games. It was his 19th this season. Jared Smyth rounded out the scoring for the Chiefs with his second goal of the year.

Spokane improved to 5-1 against the Cougars this season, including 3-0 at Prince George. The Chiefs sport a 3-0-1 record in their last four road games.
