Nic To Hold Hearing About Sports Equity

From Staff Reports

The potential for dropping some sports and/or adding others at North Idaho College will be discussed today at a workshop on gender equity.

The board of trustees workshop is open to the public. The board will make a decision on Jan. 29 on how to meet federal requirements for equitable treatment of men and women, without spending more money on athletics.

Currently, there are more opportunities for men than for women to compete. The athletic director has recommended that the college drop both the men’s and women’s track programs, and add women’s softball.

The workshop will begin at 5 p.m. in the Kootenai Room of the Student Union Building. , DataTimes
