‘Bama Ends Georgia’s Home Winning Streak

Dominique Canty led a strong inside game with 18 points and No. 5 Alabama ended fourth-ranked Georgia’s 22-game home winning streak 68-64 Wednesday night at Athens, Ga.

Georgia (11-3, 2-1 SEC) had not lost at Stegeman Coliseum since Feb. 8, 1995, when Florida handed the Bulldogs a 59-46 defeat.

Alabama (14-2, 4-0) went ahead for good when Leah Monteith hit two free throws to make it 58-57 with 4:07 remaining.

(15) N.C. State 86, (19) Duke 73 At Raleigh, N.C., Jennifer Howard scored 20 points and Chasity Melvin had 18 to lead the Wolfpack (12-5, 2-3 ACC) over the Blue Devils (11-5, 3-3).

The Wolfpack trailed 26-20 late in the first half, but hit 19 of 31 shots and committed just five turnovers in the second half.

Duke’s Tye Hall scored 17 points.
