Climber Killed On Mount Rainier

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Reno, Nev., man died and his climbing companion from the San Francisco area was injured Tuesday when they fell into a crevasse on Mount Rainier.

John Krambrink, chief ranger in Mount Rainier National Park, said the fall was witnessed by two other climbers who were descending along the same route after all four had reached the summit earlier in the day.

Names of those who fell and those who saw them tumble 60 to 80 feet into a crevasse about 900 feet below the 14,411-foot summit were not immediately available.
