Tips Sought In Bicyclist’s Hit-And-Run Death In 1983

From Staff Reports

Secret Witness is offering a reward for information about an unsolved hit-and-run death.

On Oct. 1, 1983, a car ran down Shannon Johnson, 21, while he was riding a bicycle north on Sullivan Road near 21st Avenue. The car didn’t stop. Johnson lay beside the road for 20 minutes before he was spotted. He was taken to a hospital with severe head injuries and died the following day.

The car was a 1980 or 1983 Ford LTD or Crown Victoria. The car was white, and pieces of it were found at the site of the collision. The car’s right headlight and front amber light were broken by the collision. The hood and fender also may have been damaged.

Anyone with information should call Secret Witness at 327-5111. Callers do not have to give their name to be eligible for the money.
