Newspaper Wins National, Regional Awards

The Spokesman-Review and its staffers took top honors in two recent journalism contests.

Colin Mulvany won first prize in The Harry Chapin Awards for photo-journalism for his work on “Into the Heart of Darkness,” which chronicled a group of Spokane residents who traveled to Romania to help orphans.

The Harry Chapin Awards honor print and broadcast journalists for excellence in impacting hunger, poverty and self-reliance.

The Spokesman-Review also won numerous awards in the annual Utah-Idaho-Spokane Associated Press Association contest, including the general excellence award.
