From Staff And Wire Reports

In show of appreciation, the East Central Community Oriented Policing Services substation will provide free lunches for three shifts of police today.

Police officers can get the free lunches at the 3001 East Fifth Avenue substation. Serving times are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m. On Tuesday, officers can get breakfast from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Menus will vary by shift, but will include barbecue sausages, salads, baked beans and desserts, vegetable trays, fruit, pop and coffee. Breakfast will be pancakes, eggs, bacon, Danish and orange juice.

Made up of community volunteers, COPS assist Spokane police with crime scene analysis, lifting finger prints and photographing and removing graffiti.
