Tour Bus Rolls Over, Injuring 44

Compiled From Wire Services

A tour bus returning from a weekend casino trip rolled on a snowy highway in northern Michigan Sunday night, injuring all 44 people aboard, authorities said.

Ten people remained hospitalized Sunday, one in serious condition and two with broken hips. Most of the other passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated and released, hospital officials said.

Passenger Bobbie Baskin said the tour left Detroit on Friday for a trip to the casinos in Sault Ste. Marie, in the Upper Peninsula.

“We were all just talking about how fun our weekend was when the bus crashed,” Baskin said.

The bus was passing another car on Interstate 75 when the driver lost control and the bus rolled over to the opposite side of the highway, Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Deputy Jodi Beauchamp said.
