The council will discuss a citizens initiative aimed at bringing the city’s involvement in the River Park Square redevelopment to a public vote.

Cheney Planning Commission

Monday, 6:30 p.m., Cheney city council chambers, 609 Second St.

The commission will review economic development, parks and housing components of the comprehensive plan, a review that is required under the state’s Growth Management Act.

Spokane County Commissioners

Tuesday, 9 a.m. briefing, county courthouse, 1116 W. Broadway.

2 p.m. meeting for non-hearing items, public works hearing room, 1026 W. Broadway.

5 p.m. hearings, public works hearing room.

Among other business, commissioners during their 2 p.m. meeting will debate whether a creek in southern Spokane County should be called “Latah” or “Hangman.” At 5 p.m., they’ll decide whether to sell the off-road vehicle park at Liberty Lake and hear testimony on a proposal to ban personal watercraft and other power boats from free-flowing stretches of the Spokane River.

Spokane County Air Pollution Control Authority

Thursday, 8 a.m., public works hearing room, 1026 W. Broadway.

Spokane Regional Transportation Council

Thursday, 1:30 p.m. regular meeting, lower-level conference room.
