Monday Is Deadline To Remove Studded Tires
Studded snow tires must be removed from all vehicles registered in Washington by the end of Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The fine for driving with studded tires past the deadline is $66.
Other snow and mud tires are legal year-round, said Al Gilson, a department spokesman. “But if they’ve got studs, they’ve got to come off,” he said.
People who must travel through mountain passes should carry tire chains with them in case of snow, DOT officials said.
Idaho drivers may keep studs on their cars until April 15.
