Robbery Possibly Linked To Shooting

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police are investigating a possible connection between a Monday morning robbery and a shooting.

A man walked into a house in the 700 block of South Hatch about 1 a.m. Monday, pointed a shotgun at an 18-year-old resident and demanded money and drugs, police said.

The man left with some cash and the victim chased him down the street after grabbing his own handgun and firing five times, police said.

Shortly after the robbery, a 19-year-old Spokane man flagged down a police officer along Hartson. He told the officer he had been shot in the elbow during a drive-by shooting, police said.

He was taken to a Spokane hospital.

A shotgun believed to have been used in the robbery was found near the intersection of Hatch and Hartson, police said.

Officers would not elaborate on why they believe the incidents are connected.
