Winding up what was a highly successful first full year as a pro, Tiger Woods says he’s grown stronger and - already eyeing the 1998 majors - smarter.

Woods, who will be 22 on Dec. 30, said the hardest part of his adjustment to the Tour’s majors was that there are four of them, so “you have to peak four times.”

Although he didn’t come close to winning a major after the Masters, he did wind up with four victories overall and topped the Tour’s money list with $2,066,833.

Woods will compete with Mark O’Meara, Tom Lehman and David Duval in today’s Skins Game in La Quinta, Calif.

Nick O’Hern shot a 66 Friday for a one-stroke lead after the second round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The 26-year-old Australian is at 11-under 133. Lee Westwood of England is at 134 and Greg Norman is at 135.
