Craig Holmes

Central Valley School Board, unchallenged incumbent

Personal: Age 42 … financial planner, former minister … lived in Valley almost 10 years … hobbies: “I don’t have time for any” … married, with four children … elected to the school board in 1995.

Education: Bachelor’s in math from EWU … master’s in divinity, North American Baptist Seminary … favorite classes, chemistry and physics … least favorite, English … biggest regret, not taking more “hard-nosed English classes” … last book read, a Tom Clancy novel.

Issues: Essential learnings and test scores. “Improving those is number one.” … Doing something to upgrade our high school buildings … School safety or technology.

Accomplishments: Getting the right person in as superintendent. “That certainly was a group effort” … Getting the bond issue passed … Proud of the mutual respect between the board, superintendent and administrators.

If I were king for a day: “I would create a system so that kids that are disruptive could be moved to an alternative setting designed especially for their needs.”
