Molotov Cocktail Leads To Arrest

Spokane police arrested a Veradale man after finding a Molotov cocktail under the seat of his pickup truck during a routine traffic stop early Friday.

Police arrested 22-year-old Dmitriy D. Shulgan at 12:30 a.m. Friday after he was pulled over at the intersection of Empire and Cook on the city’s North Side, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

Shulgan was stopped, police said, after he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Garland and Regal.

Police found a wine bottle filled with an unknown fluid and a rag stuffed in the opening under the pickup’s seat. The bottle was seized.

Shulgan was booked into jail for running the stop sign and for driving with a suspended license.

He could also face charges for possession of a potentially dangerous device, police said.

A 17-year-old passenger in the pickup was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was booked into juvenile detention.
