Saddam Up The River
Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, above foreground, showed his stamina - physical and political - Tuesday, crossing the Tigris River three times to open a swimming competition. The event was held to commemorate his escape across the fabled river in 1959 after participating in a failed attempt to assassinate the prime minister at that time, Abdul Karim Kassim.
